Favorite Retailer Spotlight Series: Dottie Doolittle

Favorite Retailer Spotlight Series: Dottie Doolittle

One cold December morning Busy Bees co-founder Maryam Barrett secured a meeting with Maggie Chafen the owner of San Francisco's revered children's store Dottie Doolittle to show off her new line of American Prep clothing.
Prior to the meeting Maggie told Maryam that she would know within 2 minutes if the collection was for her and that she didn't want to waste anyone's time.  Well that was 15 years ago and Busy Bees has enjoyed a thriving partnership with Dottie Doolittle since that day.
From their highly anticipated holiday events to the one stop shop for the best baby gifts wrapped in the signature red Dottie Doolittle box it's the ultimate  classic children's boutique. And if you're not local, you can now shop Dottie Doolittle online.
Maggie and Maryam have formed a long time friendship so we couldn't imagine a better person and shop to showcase to kick off our "Favorite Retailer Spotlight Series."  We're so proud and honored to be in Dottie Doolittle.
An Interview with Maggie Chafen of Dottie Doolittle:

When did you open your boutique
Dottie Doolittle was opened in 1976.

Why did you want to open a children's boutique?

I wanted to open a children's boutique because at the time there were no good girls' clothing boutiques.

Tell us about where you are located:

Dottie Doolittle is located at 3680 Sacramento Street in San Francisco, in the Pacific Heights neighborhood.  It's a very, sweet neighborhood and we're on a great little shopping street.

What's your favorite season of clothes?

My favorite season of clothes is Fall.  I love classic plaids and peter pan collar dresses.  My favorite thing to do is dress the little ones for their first outing to the Nutcracker at the San Francisco Opera House.  It's magical.

Tell us a fun fact about you or the boutique:  Besides selling children's clothing I'm a master gardener and have a small olive oil business as part of our family winery in Napa.   On weekends you may find me doing olive oil tastings at the local grocer in St Helena.
Find Busy Bees Kids clothes, along with great shoes and accessories to go with them at Dottie Doolittle.
